Prodigy & Alchemist - Give Em Hell

Since Return of The Mac, Prodigy has not released anything with comparable
impact. Tides might be changing now that  he is linking back up with Alchemist
for the forthcoming 'Albert Einstein' out early 2013

Prodigy is in fine form here on the lyrical tip and the beat Alchemist lays
beneath him is smooth as baby balls, oozing squiggly synths, rhodes keys and
fluttering chopped vocals.

Kitty Pryde - R.R.E.A.M.

Kitty Pryde is back! Once again, she combines her teeny coy lyrics with her
whispery delivery. It seems like age is giving her a bit of an edge but she's
still got her self-deprecating sense of humor that makes her so cute and endearing

On her last release, she collaborated with producer GRANT to churn out
'Give Me Scabies' - her absurdly dope take on Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe.'
Here, they team up again to flip Wu-Tang Clan's 'C.R.E.A.M.' on its head.

It's off her upcoming EP 'D.A.I.S.Y. Rage' which should be dropping this
January 31st on her Tumblr.

Redheads with freckles go hard!

Ulrich Schnauss - A Ritual In Time and Death (Video)

Ulrich Schnauss is known for his shoegazy ambient electronica which always
sounds like he is doing an ethereal Blade Runner soundtrack. In other words,
he concocts detailed progressive soundscapes, great as background music and
interesting enough if you were to play closer attention.

This joint off the upcoming A Long Way To Fall out via Domino (2/12/13) is
exactly what you would expect from him - heavily reverbed guitars, bubbling
synth arpeggios, futuristic strings and delicate percussion.

Check out the video below. Listen and be transported into another world.

You might run into a replicant.

Phantom - Kisses (Video)

Phantom just turned a year old, roughly. The Swedish duo of formally trained jazz
singer/songwriter Hanna Toivonen and producer Tommi Koskinen pull
off a phenomenal feat here, sampling one of the most famous pieces
of music ever created. The French composer Erik Satie's 'Gymnopedie No.1'.

Tommi Koskinen does a great job making the beat his own, touching
the sample up with some distorted strings and distant synths while
Hanna Toivonen deals with romantic rejection via her jazz vocal stylings,
that have a touch of sass.

When the sample drops in a recognizable chunk, it is familiar yet still
jaw droppingly beautiful.

The video is as pretty and as ethereal
as the tune.

Lovely.

Ifan Dafydd - Celwydd

Ifan Dafydd was once roommates with James Blake and you can hear
it in the music. Considering the prolific-ness of James Blake, this is not a
problem at all. In fact, it is very welcome.

Much like JB's work, this tune is a spiral of pitch-fucked vocals
courtesy of Alys Williams, church organs, bass stabs and
skittering percussion.

This is off a compilation by the Welsh label Recordiau Lliwgar.
No word when the whole joint drops.

Till then quench your thirst with this.

The Songs 2 Sing 2 In The Shower 2012 Mix

I've always wanted to put out a mix. As the new year of 2013 approached, it seemed
like the timing was just right. Time for a mix of songs. Songs to sing to in the shower.
Some songs snuck on there despite my best efforts. Grizzly Bear for instance - so difficult to
pick one song off that album.. Whereas with artists like Beach House, Purity Ring, Jessica Ware
and Miguel, it felt blasphemous to pick a song when the entirety of the project demanded a consumption of the whole.

Anyway, here is the mix.

Cheers to singing in the shower. Or where ever else works for you.

If that does not work, here is the link to cut and paste....
